First Days Work

Well, I did my first days work of the year today, guiding a lovely couple from the big smoke up Snowdon. Considering the forecast a couple of days ago we got away relatively well. There were brisk winds but nothing too bad, although it was proper cold on the summit, with hoar frost starting to form.

We headed up and down the Snowdon Ranger path in search of a little peace and quiet. Meaning I only ran into a couple of people I know. Chloe and John from my coaching processes course for climbing instructors, and Matt a local fell runner from llanberis. Matt ran past us as we were on our way down, I joked he’ll be back down before us, although with only a couple of down hill km to go we did managed to beat him!

Anyway, if you fancy a weekend in the hills then I am available throughout the rest of January and February. See here for winter skills courses.

How to abseil past a knot

This question came up on UKC, and I remembered that I started to edit a short video. Made me finish it. So if you are interested in Rope Rescue for Climbers or Improvised Rescue and retreat techniques then this video is for you.

If you’d like to come on a course then you can find more info of my courses here, the dates are flexible so if you want a different date then get in contact. I also have a little PDF that I put together for some of the more basic rope rescue techniques for climbers, this can be found on this page.
