Climbing Coach is written by Mark Reeves an experience Climber, Instructor and Coach, who runs Snowdonia Mountain Guides. Having worked as a climbing instructor/coach extensively in North Wales and around the UK since 1997, including working for the National Mountain Centre, Plas Y Brenin, Mark’s practical experience is second to none when it comes to helping climber improve.

Combine this with Mark’s commitment to his own continuing professional where in the last three years has seen him gain an MSc in Applied Sport Science passing units in Effective Coaching, Sports Psychology and Performance Physiology, and completed a thesis in Imagery and Climbing. Mark has also attended the BMC FUNdamentals and LTAD2: Learning to Train Workshops and the Plas Y Brenin Coaching Processes course.

At the same time as studying Mark has combined his practical knowledge alongside his new theoretical understanding of coaching and performance in a new book ‘How to Climb Harder’ by Pesda Press in 2010.

Mark was also at the forefront of the British Mountaineering Council’s move towards integrating some formal ‘coaching’ qualifications alongside the current National Governing Body awards where he was a co-author of the National Source Group’s report into the future of coaching in British Climbing.

This blog aims to bring you hints and tips about both improving your climbing and improving your coaching. I hope you enjoy.
