Another great day out in the mountain of torridon. Having in the past done Beinn Eighe and Lliathach. I finished the big three must do hill/mountain scramble days out by a traverse of Beinn Alligin.

The weather forecast winds increasing throughout the day, so i was on the hill by 8, and att the first section of ridge scrambling by ten. Not wanting to get caught out and being alone I duck out of the ‘horns’ section. Taking a chicken run that contours the hill.

This seemed to pay divends as after the main summit about 2/3 along the ridge the wind did start to pick up, bringing with it flurries of snow. By the time i got to the last top it was 30mph gusting 40. Still managable on the easier terrain. But i am not sure i would want to be on the horns during it!

Anyway back in the pub, and more importantly the local garage that is open every other tuesday in the winter was somehow open. Not a moment too soon as i drove back from torridon of fumes.

On my way back down last night, I was asked wether I was keen for the Lleyn, Hell Yes! I have been walking around for too long, and I needed a climb like a junkie needs crack. Its just that the crack was looking for is more socially acceptable!

So we went for a VS and some V grades, in a king of V for Vendetta kind of a way, we worked out that Gullimots Groove on the VS stood for a very nice pitch follwoed by a very scarey one. I got the scarey one on a kind of medium that I can only best describe as a cross between playing giant jenga and rock climbing.

We then head to Porth Ysgo, were we reminded ourselves that we are as young as we once were. Although Llion and Katie have obviously been secret training as he flash popcorn party, and Katie did the Incredible Shacking Woman from a stand up. As for me after what seems like months without bouldering I manage to climb Jawbreaker V5. How do I feel now? sore!

Well I am back in Chile and reconnected to my faithful macbook. Which means that I have downloaded the images from Argentina to my computer, there are thousands of them from the two week trip. So rather than put together one massive post, I might just add pictures by crag/day, and set the lot up to come out automatically over the next couple of days, finishing with the images of frey.

I warn you that you will soil your pants when you see this place and the rock climbing.

I also returned to find that Climber have added a review of How to Climb Harder from a reader to there webpage. If you want to visit then visit here. Thanks to Andy the editor and the reader who took the time to write the review.

I Don’t know how many of you guys caught High Altitude and Explore last night, these two new BBC series both seem like they are aimed at the emerging extreme travel markets. Which despite the fact that climbers and other extreme sports men and women having engaged with this type of activity for years, it is only now that it appears to be going more ‘mainstream’ and turning up on the BBC.

The Explore programme was a different perspective on the ‘Travel Show’, no fake tan or the usual suspects flouncing around on a beach, just a few apparently well seasoned travellers taking you on some of the must see and do things of South America, I particularly liked the football match as it was a little ‘intense’, however they also take a look at the natural side of the countries like the glaciers and mountains.

I thought it was an excellent little programme, well worth catching if your about, if not then get on the BBC I-player. Similarly High Altitude has some potential to offer the ‘extreme’. This week it was failing to get up Mount Blanc and Sky Diving out of a helicopter down the North Face of the Eiger!

If I am honest, I am not sure where this programme will go or what it was going to say about anything, other than letting Graeme Bell former downhill skier and a series of famous co-presenters a well paid extreme trip to some place or another. Considering the dearth of this type of programme, it is still probably worth catching on I-player at the very least.
